Past their expiry date
Hair Care
By Pat Spires, Colour Library Books, 1986, hardback,
ISBN 0 86283 414 7
Fashion crimes of the eighties - such lush and fertile fields of inspiration for the nasty minded of us.
Well those of us who were clever enough to burn all existing photographic evidence of our own misdemeanors anyway.

We are all recipients of the occasional bad hair day of course, but the eighties had such flair for accentuating frightening hair disasters and then running with them that we felt the topic was worthy of special recognition when we found this very special haircare book.
Unfortunately, considering the sheer enormity of the hair disasters of that decade is responsible for, this book is a bit tame. Which is actually another reason to include it in this collection, because the "hair artists - Pat Spires and Trevor Walker of 'Sizzerin Hot' in East Twickenhame" (classy name guys) didn't actually seem to do much.
In fact it's possible that they spent more time putting outrageous eyeshadow on the models than actually doing their hair. And yet, and this is the astounding bit: the models still look absolutely tragic afterwards.
Now that takes real talent!
So peruse below some of the 'before' and 'after' photos.
Yes, shocking I know - it's actually the same woman! Not a hair double!

Dang, is that where I left my pencil.... probably can't see anything through the industrial-strength makeup.

"Many would envy Sue's naturally wavy, red hair..." Yes, because a bright orange mullet is such an improvement!

Is it just me or does the photo make her look like a Minotaur?
