Yes, that's right, the two don't have to be mutually exclusive, you know! In fact, this is often far from the case. As one cop modestly opines, '"Cops and women, they just go together. I look terrific in my uniform, with my gun and my shield. How can they resist me? Well, they can't."" From the sounds of that get-up, there may be some men who find him irresistible too, but I guess that's a whole other topic… In a world that's often afraid to tackle the tough issues, this book unflinchingly asks hard questions: "Cops — are they heroes, sex symbols or pigs?" Yet despite this fearless stance the author is not afraid to extend a warm fuzzy welcome to all readers: "This is a book about cops, women — and you!" Well, I don't know about you, but I certainly feel wanted. For those of you who feel that the image of the boys in blue has taken something of a knocking lately, this book strives to redress the balance, with testimony from women on the cops in their lives. Excerpts such as this speak for themselves: "How do young girls meet cops? Everywhere and anywhere. "I was having an ice-cream soda," recalls a 17-year-old girl, "I was with some friends…these cops… started talking to us, and you don't just ignore a cop, I mean, it's not polite…pretty soon I was dating him sort of regular. I couldn't exactly ask him to my high school prom, he was too old for that, you know, but we dated right up until I left for college. He was a swell guy. It wasn't until later that I learned he was married and had kids. What a rat he turned out to be!"" Irresistible. It's books like this that make you feel that much safer, don't you think?
