ARTY BEES BOOKS NEWSLETTER18th November 2002Well here we are, it's nearly Christmas again and as if life wasn't busy enough we're moving our Bizy Bee's branch into brand new, very large premises. From early December (late November?) onwards Bizy Bee's will be in the Oaks Complex on the Manners Street side, just across from the James Smith Market. (Where WINZ Studylink used to be.) Exciting anticipation and utter exhaustion will probably be the flavour of the month, but it will all be worth it in the end. They will have the same opening hours as Arty Bee's and we hope that many of our regular customers will find it a lot easier to get to than the old location as it is less than one hundred metres from the three bus stops going in any direction. We also have a loading zone and parking straight outside for those of you who want to bring in books to sell or exchange, and the James Smith's parking building is just across the road if you want to browse for a while. One of the big thrills of the relocation (apart from no more leaks!) is the decision to expand the range of stock at the Bizy Bee's branch. While we have always had a strong Science Fiction and Fantasy selection at Bizy Bee's, (and it's not been too shoddy at Arty Bee's either) we have been frustrated for a long time by the lack of good sci-fi being brought into the country by the large chain book stores. Being second hand means that we are dependent on what we are offered and far too many outstanding authors and titles have been as scarce as the proverbial hen's teeth for way too long. Not for much longer. Starting in the new premises Bizy Bee's will be direct importing new Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Detective fiction, filling a huge gap in the current reading market. We hope that within six months we will have the best range in the lower North Island, and if we don't have it we will do our best to find it for you. On top of this Arty Bee's is about to burst at the seams, and decanting some of our fantastic stock into the new shop should stop the guys from mutinying next time I ask them to try to fit one more book on the shelf. Moving a bookshop is an enormous job and of course it has meant that many things we had planned to have done by now have gone by the wayside, (like finishing this web site) but we'll just have to catch up after Christmas. (And we get to have an Opening Party then too!) We hope you all have a happy and safe holiday season and we look forward to seeing you soon. — Robynne
