Chapman and Hall, London. With a frontispiece by C. Stanfield. American Notes dated 1855 & Christmas Books dated 1852. Both with frontispiece and bound together in 1 volume. Marbled boards with green leather spine and corners. 5 raised bands on spine which is heavily gilted. There is edge-wear and rubbing to the boards. Hinges are cracked but binding is tight. Surface damage to rear e/p's. Page edges and e/p's are also marbled. Previous owner name inside. Preface to The Cheap Edition by the author. 175pp & 266pp with text in 2 columns. Some scattered foxing. We have other titles in a matching binding. All are published by Chapman and Hall between 1850 and 1857 except Dombey and Son which is published by Bradbury and Evans in 1858.
