This book, a true facsimile of the original edition of 1842, is among the earliest descriptions of the country immediately after its opening to planned settlement. It was written by the gifted and energetic artist-draughtsman of the New Zealand Company, and contains informative accounts of the land, including the Chatham Islands, and its natural resources, the various settlements and the Maori people.
