Title:The Life of Pope Sixtus the Fifth
W Bowyer, London, 1754. Full leather with six raised bands on spine. This book has been rebound (not recently) with the original leather laid over the front and rear boards. Title label on spine is not original. New e/p's with a gap on front paste down to allow for an early inscription to be visible. The inscription reads "W Balls (?) Book, translated by his mothers own cousin and only preceptor". Front hinge is cracked but binding is holding. There is evidence that the book has survived a fire with damage to the top corners of the first 40 pages but text is unaffected. There is general age discolouration and scattered foxing but the contents are in remarkably good condition for their age. This is a large heavy book but will be shipped at abe quoted price.
