ANTARCTICA is divided into three main parts.

Part one, The Continent and Its Wildlife, explians the basic geology, geography, botany and zoology of the continent and the islands that surround it in the Southern Ocean.

Part two, The Explorers, unfolds, in chronological order, the story of Antarctic exploration, starting from the earliest times and continuing up to the present day.

Part three, Antarctic Atlas and Chonology, contains all the essential reference that is needed for a proper understanding of the rest of the book. Four full-page maps show the entire continent in vivid detail, with close ups of important areas. These larger maps compliment the maps on the explorers' pages. An Antarctic Time Chart places all the events in the bok in their proper chronological order.
This part of the book is rounded off with a comprehensive index and gazetter of the maps.
