A two-volume set containing selections from the papers of the Richmond and Atkinson families - prominent early political, cultural and social leaders of the period 1850-1900.

The survival for almost a century plus of the collection now known as the Richmond-Atkinson Papers was not a mere chance. It was due primarily to the congenital disposition of a family for recording and sporadic impulses towards conservation. This two volume set contains copies of many letters written by the family members during the period of the mid 1800 in New Zealand. They cover many topics and offer an insite into the Politics, people and day-to-day life from this period.
