Radclyffe Hall remains today the most famous of British lesbians - above all for her novel 'The Well of Lonliness', which was banned as 'obscene' in a sensational court case in 1928. Her life story, however, is less well known, though she was a leading figure in the colourful homosexual subculture of teh 1920s and 30s, and widely connected in the literary world.
