As I grew older memories of my childhood resurfaced. I became aware that my experiences of childhood and education were in teh minority. We lived in an isolated area that necessitated many sacrifices and few of the amenities that were available in the cities. Growing up I was unaware of this but looking back I realise it was unusual. I felt I wanted to document this era, of how we lived, before it disappeared altogether. It was a happy time for me, full of adventure and excitement. I have tried to recapture this in my book.
