A Guard's General
Title:
A Guard's General
Adair, Major General SIr Allan
$18.00

In this important autobiography Sir Allan Adair describes his life which spans the last eighty-nine turbulent years. Three times decorated for gallantry and wounded in both World Wars, he provides a facinating account of soldiering with the Grenadier Guards in peace and war. His contemporaries were such Grenadiers as Harold Macmillan, Duff Cooper and Oliver Lyttleton.

The story is told, for the first time, of the key role of the Guards Battalions played in breaking the 1926 General Strike.

In the Second World War, Sir Allan Adair commanded the distinguished Guards Armoured Division throughout the fighting in Europe. Afterwards he fought in the Greek Civil War and reached the highest ranks in Freemasonry and the Yeomen of the Guard.

He describes all these events with modesty, humour, and in a most readable manner.
