Bishop George Augustus Selwyn was one of the outstanding figures among Anglican Churchmen in the nineteenth centruy, but it is many years since a full biography has been written. In this book Mr Evans, an Englishman who has had the advantage of living in New Zealand for a number of years, describes and evaluates the work of a great Bishop in New Zealand and Melanesia, and afterwards at Lichfield, his contriubtion to the life of the Church of his own time and his impact on a later age.
