Open Country has become synonymous with two things - the popular NZBC weekly programme compiled by Jim Henderson; and the very successful series of books based on this radio programme and edited by Jim Henderson.

The first of these, Open Country, was published in 1965 and its great (and still continuing) popularity justified the publication of Return to Open Country in 1967 and Open Country Calling in 1969.

This present book, the fourth in the series, follows the same pattern as its predecessors.
