Our planet would have been an easy conquest if not for the Colonial Union - the human spacefaring military organisation that has defended our world for generations. But the CU kept many secrets until John Perry revealed them to Earth's billions. The CU has fought an endless series of secret war on it (it claims) the Earth's behalf, while relying on the home world to provide an unlimited supply of recruits who never return from space.
