This book recounts the personal experiences of some of the New Zealanders who flew as pilots, navigators, bomb aimers, wireless operators and gunners, with enough background to put them and their exploits into context. I was lucky enough to find and interview veterans who took part in the key raids and campaigns of the war, and through them to find out what it was like to be a crewman on a bomber. Their stories are told in chronological order.
