The Itinerant Artist - Revisiting the Paintings of William George Baker
Maysmor, Bob
$45.00

Pataka Museum, Porirua, Wellington 2007.Landscape format, in good condition

William George Baker (1864 - 1929) travelled extensively throughout New Zealand, painting the landscape from Stewart Island to Great Barrier Island in both oils and watercolurs. Little has been written about this prolific artist, successive art historians has chosen to ignore and no major review of his work has been held until this time.
For the last ten years of his life Baker lived at Titahi Bay, painting many scenes of the local coast and harbours. It was this link with Porirua City that became part of the rationale for researching Baker's career and presenting this catalogue and the exhibition of his work.
