Edward Moxon, London, 1844. First edition. Tan leather boards with 5 raised bands on spine. The title label on the spine is missing and titles very faint. The surface of the leather is peeling off at the edges of the baords. The spine has damage to the ends with splits to top end. Marbled e/p's and page edges. The binding is tight. 202pp. No inscriptions or markings.
Richard Monckton Milnes, 1st Baron Houghton (1809 - 1885) was an English poet, a patron of literature and a politician. This is a book of meditative poems inspired by Milnes' tour of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East in 1842-3.
