The autobiography of Paul Patu Tairua, the oldest Maori ever to receive a heart transplant. It tells of the heart disease which began when he contracted rheumatic fever as a child, and of the operations that gave only minor relief. It tells also of his marriage. There is discussion of the writer's relationship with his Maori heritage and his return to his home marae. There are two sections of photographs.
