A land carved by ice and the movement of vast mountains, now plunging into profound sea-filled sounds, fringed by luxuriant forests and over-hung by towering, snow mantled peaks. This is the south-west Fiordland, one of the world's grandest wilderness areas and a region so inaccessible it is familiar to few New Zealanders.
