Helen Brown used to think that bride dolls had more fun. Now she's not so sure. The problem is that life for a bride doll both begins and ends on the Big Day. She misses out on what comes after: a live-in husband, for one thing; kids for another. And she never gets to enjoy the pleasures of Midadulthood: pate and jazzercise and hot tubs. She never gets to join Neighbourhood Watch and never has a Christmas, department-store style. Compared with a track suit her dress looks frowsy and over-stated, and the box she comes in is home for life. She never meets a land agent.
