Bell Gully Buddle Weir, 1990. Spine of dustwrapper faded.
In 1984 two of New Zealand's oldest law firms -- Buddle Weir & Co. of Auckland and Bell Gully & Co. of Wellington -- merged to become Bell Gully Buddle Weir. Both firms were founded early and their stories encompass much of New Zealand's legal and political history from colonial times to the present. Between them the two firms have produced a Governor General, a Premier, a Prime Minister, three Chief Justices, five Judges, two Attorney Generals, two Solicitor Generals and several MPs. In 'The Story of Bell Gully Buddle Weir' Julia Millen has produced a lively and fascinating account of the evolution of a great law firm, with many glimpses into the lives of those who shaped its course. She has also told us a great deal about the life of government of our nation in the last 150 years.
