Joe and Rose Goldblatt were interviewed as part of the New Zealand Defence Force Military Oral History Project. In his interview, Joe outlines his experiences of growing up in Wellington before World War II; enlisting in the air force in 1941 at the age of 18; initial training in New Zealand; intermediate air training as a bomb aimer in Canada; advanced training in England; special operations over Germany with 199 Squadron; and then the return home to 'Civvy Street' after the war.
In her interview, Rose describes her childhood in Poland, Australia and New Zealand and outlines what it was like in Wellington before, during and after the war.
